How much horsepower will RAM AIR give me???

I'm just wondering how much of a power increase you get from having RAM AIR. I'm doing it to my IROC and was wondering what sort of increase I'll get. Also, how much does it affect torque?

Thanks

Rob

I have got 27rwhp from my old ram air setup. To get anything near that number it must be very well sealed, and your trap speed would have to be at least 110 MPH. A sealed system starts adding significant pressure at approx 60mph. Torque would depend on how your car is geared, because that determines your engine RPM at speeds where the ram-air does it's thing.

good luck

Fully optimized, I never found any HP in Ram Air. If too rich, then yes, it would help.
I'd be more inclined to go with a cowl induction set up.

I don't think you will gain too much, it will help most at high speeds, where a lot of air is being drawn in, a cold air set up on the other hand would work all the time, because it isn't relying on the air being forced through. You may notice a little difference with the ram air, but I don't think much, at least not at low speeds, the car may pull harder at higher speeds though.

Grumpy,
Just curious, were your tests on an EFI or carbureted engine?
To clarify, the data I posted was from carbureted, and I was already at the lean limit before the ramair. The carburetor did pretty good at metering in more fuel itsself until around the 800 ft mark for me when I would get a small lean misfire. Still with the misfire it made the gains I posted.
The system I was using was far from optimal and was from White-Racing. Mr White advertises in the back of some magazines like CarCraft, and he has tons of good test data on his own and customers cars.

again good luck with that project.
