083 cylinder head question

I have a pair of 083 cylinder heads off of a 350 tpi and i bought manley retainers and valve springs to support up to 550 lift for my cam, but now i am scared i read somewhere that once i replace the retainers i will need shims or lash caps cause of the difference between the stock exhaust and intake retainers is this true? and if so how do i know what shims to get. I now have everything to put my monster back together and now im scared to please if you have any info about this comment cause i wanted this done before Halloween.

Re: 083 cylinder head question

You need to shim the springs so the installed height is correct. It shouldn't be too hard to find a how-to article online...
