L98 randomly dies

L98 randomly dies
Ok so I've been chasing an issue with my l98 randomly dying.

I've been able to simulate the issue in the link above. Car was running great except for this random issue however today the outside temp went to 32 degrees all day. Car was in the garage all night and started fine this morning but after sitting outside all day I couldn't get it to start. I did get it started but couldn't get it to idle until it reached operating temp. Leads me to the cold start injector but that doesn't seem to explain the random dyeing issue. Tried to post a link to a video of it dying but not sure if it is working. If I quickly hit the throttle and release the car will die. Any thoughts would be appreciated

Re: L98 randomly dies
While a failed cold start injector might make the initial start more difficult, it isn't likely that it would prevent the engine from idling until it is at normal operating temperature. The cold start injector is only intended to operate for about two seconds and only once upon initial startup.
It is more likely that the IAC and its air passages are in need of attention. Clean the TB bores, plates, and air passages. Check the throttle minimum air position and adjust as necessary. Clean and lubricate the IAC. Adjust the TPS voltage at close throttle (I'm presuming yours is adjustable since it is old enough to have a cold start injector). Then allow it to cool and try a cold start again.
A sluggish or stuck IAC will have that effect on starting and idle, as well as the inability to recover from a throttle blip.

The CSI is hooked to the starter circuit. Below a certain temp, when the key is in the start position, the CSI will fire. I think the colder the temp, the longer the CSI will fire. When key is turned to "run", the circuit is de-energized and the CSI shuts off.
