Cam Conundrum

Hello,

My car currently has a stock 305 TPI setup from a 92 Z28. I am planning to put a motor into the car that came out of my dad's street/strip car. In the process of getting a tune for the engine to run the TPI setup the tuner said the cam that is in it does not make enough vacuum for the ECU to work with the engine. I am looking at getting a new comp cams flat tappet cam for the motor but I am unsure what will work well with the motor and the TPI setup. The specs of the motor and current cam are below that I am looking to swap in the car. I also still have access to the cam that came with the crate motor originally.

Early 90's late model vette crate motor
-1990 Aluminum vette heads
-350ci
-9.5:1 compression
-350hp from the factory

Cam (currently in the engine):

That engine should be roller ready! I am thinking LT4 Hotcam kit.

Re: Cam Conundrum

That looks like one hell of a setup, right now though I don't have the coin for something like that. I am looking to stay with a flat tappet from Comp cams as I will be able to just switch out the cam and keep the cost very low. I will keep that cam in mind in the future though, I really do like that setup.

Update: Looking at Comp Cams 12-268-4 Xtreme Energy Cam and lifter kit, I'm currently checking with the tuner I am working to see what he thinks! From the description from comp cams it should be a good fit for my motor.
