a midnight thought on afprs

hey guys, was wondering, if a fuel system is putting out too much fuel, and you install an afpr, and lower the pressure, therefore reducing the amount of fuel into the system, would that have any negative affects?

Re: a midnight thought on afprs

Fuel will not atomize as well at lower pressure. Also, if the O2 senses lean, it will add fuel.

Re: a midnight thought on afprs

You CAN add or remove a "little" fuel that way, but that's not what it's for. I won't say that NO ONE has ever done that with positive results, but again, that's not what it's for. If you use the AFPR to add or remove fuel, then how do you optimize/tune your fuel pressure?
Best analogy I ever heard was to thing of the fuel system as a stereo. You use the the volume **** to add volume, then tweak the quality using the EQ. Sure you could just bump your highs, mids and lows on the EQ all the way up, and it would add volume, but now how do you fine tune the quality? I mean you did add volume, it worked, right? ...but that's not what the EQ is for.

Re: a midnight thought on afprs

What's it doing to make you think that? ....I put a hard mounted gauge on the rail years ago because I just think it's so valuable, but hand held pressure gauge is cheap and easy to use. Buy it once, always have it! ...don't need to worry about the FPR again.
