How should I do my intake?
'87 formula, pretty much all stock. What is the best way to setup an intake for this as just a cruise/low end track car? (no, it's not a daily driver at all)
Did a bit of research and found 3 options:
-Functional ram air hood
-Cold air intake
-Short ram air intake
Like I said, still has the stock intake which is very obstructive and whatnot, so what is the best way to go about re-doing the intake to get the best bang for your buck?

Get the air intake ducting and aircleaner can from a TPI 88-89 Firebird. The 85-87 setup is overly complicated, the 88-89 setup just has a pair of molded rubber ducts, one goes from the TB to the MAF, the other from the MAF to the airfilter can. It'll flow about as well as anything else out there.

I decided I was just gonna buy a K&N filter cone and just fab up a short ram/cold air with some plumbing from Menards.

If you buy the short K&N cone filter and leave it open to the hot engine bay it will suck in hot air from the engine and you will lose power. You need to route the filter to a cool outside air intake source

If you get an open element come filter (dry) you can go to Home Depot and get these rubber pvc pipe connectors that are angled. Two of them as well as some pcv pipe to connect the two create the perfect angles to route to where the filter should sit normally just without a plastic box around it. I think it costed me around $25 to do it and it only took 20 minutes. It's not a cold air intake by any means but it worked for me because I bought the car with some stupid soda can like crushed up filter on the end of a truck intake duct. You can easily make it cold a cold air by cutting through the tray that it sits on and add some pvc to make it through the hole you cut.
