89 iroc drives great for a hour or two then bogs.
The car is a 89 iroc z 305 tpi.
Ok so the car ran great all day but when I was heading home it bogged down and cut off. Wouldn't start and stay running after that(just kept bogging after idling for about 30 seconds). So i let it sit for about 30 min and then ran fine for about 8 miles then did it again. I have replaced coolant temp sensor, icm, and the coil. My next thought was fuel pump but both times it did it you could smell raw gas from the exhaust. Fuel pump is only 3 years old also. Idk where to begin now. Maybe fuel pressure regulator or injectors? Idk I'm lost with this.
Any help appreciated!

Next time it does out find out whether you lost spark, fuel, or injectors. That'll start you somewhere. The coolant temp sensor may be good but that doesn't mean the circuit is fine. The warmer the engine the less resistance the temp sensor has so if there is a break in the wire or damaged, the ecm will still have high resistance going to it and will treat the engine as if its cold. I don't know if that'll be enough to cause it to stall but I couldn't rule it out.

If the fuel pressure regulator hasnt been changed thats most likely the problem. Also check to see if the fuel is boiling in the fuel tank next time it cuts out remove the fuel cap and see if you have alot of pressure and bubbling inside the tank.

In addition to the checks the other members suggested, when the problem occurs again, check the fuel injector resistance. Then check it again after the motor has cooled down completely, overnight.

Next time it bogs and wants to die when taking off from a red light/full stop...
Pull over, turn the engine off, pull the small vacuum line going from the back of the upper plenum to the fuel pressure regulator and smell it. see if you get STRONG smell of gasoline.
My diaphragm was ruptured and i had the same exact problem.
Also if this is the case, A simple way to limp home is to cut that vacuum line in half and plug both new holes. This way you don't need to power-brake at every light.
Delco Pro # 214-2156
The BWD one also works, but is about the same price so get the Delco if you can find it.

I've got a 1991 z/28 350 tpi that bogs down, and quits in the summer, when it is over 80degrees outside, and an engine temp of around 220-240. The fuel is boiling, do you have a fix?

Replace the fuel pump and strainer with a good quality one

I pretty much have the same problem, when its hot the gas will boil in the tank, I made a thread about this also, seems we are not alone, only thing that works for me is to stop and put fresh gas in, the cool gas fixes it for a few more miles, the gas is getting to hot but im not sure why, all my heat shields or there I honestly think its coming from the heat soak of the fuel rails and that 130+ plus gas is getting returned to the tank and sitting there. On a cooler day its fine

Has anyone tried a tranie radiator, and used it for the fuel?
