LB9 died emergency
Took my car out with some friends last weekend, and after about a 2 hour or 2.5 hour drive I heard a loud howling, turned out to be pressure in my gas tank, a lot of pressure, nearly shot the cap outta my hand when I took it off. Then I noticed that it had sprung a leak at the fuel rail connector.
The next morning the car seemed to drive fine, drove it about 2 hours. After an hour stop for lunch I got back in, and after 15 miles the car started to bog down. The fuel line had wiggled loose and was gushing, and it starting knocking while under load.
left it on the side of the road, and the next day took my timing light and tools to the car. Tightened up the line, spun static timing to about 5 btdc. The car was idling at about 450-500, not the 900 I had set it at. Idle sounded ok, but if you rev the motor it heaves, tries to die, sputters, backfires, etc.
help.

Re: LB9 died emergency
went and finally pulled it all apart. Fuel filter was horrid. The injectors all had dirt in the tops, the rails were gross with a bunch of crap floating in them. New tank, sending unit, pump, hopefully together before next weeks over. Have to cut the exhaust to drop the tank...

Tank sounds like a Spectra product. Manufactured to a shape that's sorta close to the body it's supposed to fit into, just needs to be finished to a more exact shape at time of installation.

Re: LB9 died emergency
Bingo! spectra it is. New spectra tank, racetronix 255, FPR diaphragm, o rings, filter, and I cleaned all the hardlines. When I rev it sometimes hiccups still, but the timing might be off and the fuel pressure may be as well. When I tested it it said 45ish idle, 50ish WOT, so it should be right.... Hopefully the injectors were all good, they all sprayed similar patterns and amounts, but I didn't have a good control to compare them too.
