How to install Vortec dizzy in SBC OBD2?
Hi Guys,
Can someone help me out here with the correct procedure to install the vortec distributor into the block for the 0411PCM swap?
This is actually my first engine build, but I do remember reading something about cylinder 1 at top dead center and then turning the distributor x degrees to seat it.
I'm assuming the only way to find TDC is to take the valve cover off and watch for the valve to open/close?

Yeah like that, but you have to be TDC on the compression stroke. Did you remove the old distributor already? You can also remove the spark plug and ball a piece of paper up into the spark plug hole and turn the motor, when the compression stroke starts it will force the paper out.
I'm not familiar with the vortec distributors do they still use a rotor inside or does it just fire spark based on the cam sensor? If it still uses a rotor then it should be pointing at 5 O'clock once the distributor is installed.
