350 vs 383 with FIRST intake?
So I'm still up in the air with which direction I want to go with my build. So far I've got AFR195 heads sitting in a box, and will be getting a FIRST TPI intake. I could probably bolt these up to my stock 350 and see some gain (Combustion chamber may be 1 cc larger with AFR heads? Could rectify this with head gasket perhaps?). Which may be what I do short-term since I don't have a second car while this one's down. However, if I go with a bigger cam my dynamic compression ratio may tank, and if I have to go and change pistons would I be better off building a stroker?
So two parts to this I guess:
1. Short term: Should AFR195 heads with 1.6 ratio rockers bolt up to a stock 350 TPI with stock cam and not have valve clearance issues? If it's going to have clearance issues then I'll be moving straight to part 2.
2. Long(er) term: 383 or 350, and are there any cons to a 383 from the perspective of using it as a street car? Is reliability about the same?
Any other advice from all you engine gurus is appreciated, I am very much a newb to this area.

Re: 350 vs 383 with FIRST intake?
You can put heads and intake on the stock shortblock and cam and it will run fine. Dont worry about the compression
I would do a cam at the same time since you are down that far. It makes sense.
Either way will need tuned
383 will make more torque everywhere than a similar 350. With tpi theres already plenty of torque. All depends what you want to do
