91 z won't start... ish

I just picked up a 91 305 5 speed car. It has sat for awhile cause the kid couldn't get it running right. Won't start unless I squirt fuel in the intake. Has new fuel pump (old one died) and tps with connector (was busted and setting off code 22). Now its throwing codes 21 and 42. Code 21 is probably where I had just wired up the tpi connector. Code 42 is probably where I had to set timing (dissy wasn't bolted down). Now when setting the time I couldn't get it perfect. The car idle fine and revved OK but the mark didn't show up when using the timing light. The injectors will not pulse when starting the car but once it starts it seem to run. I believe the distributor is going out or the ecm is not properly grounded. Would the distributor cause the injectors not to pulsate and throw the timing light off? I have checked to make sure the distributor was set correctly and it has 40 psi of pressure. Also the alternator isn't charging properly. Could that cause an issue?

Did you unplug the EST wire prior to checking and setting the timing?

Yes unplugged started car set time hooked up and shut off after a minute of run time. It started idling fine and started taking fuel fine. Tried to move it and in a few feet it died. I'm just gonna haul it to the shop and fix it there where I have real tools. Not out in BFE
