I wanted to make a post using all of the key words that I searched for my recent issue which is now resolved. I found bits and pieces in several threads which lead me to believe the computer was the next step.

The solution was finally to replace the ECU computer.

Recently, my 1989 Formula 350 TPI with 300K miles died at a stop light.
It wouldn't start back up, but cranked just fine.
As I sat waiting for the two truck after 10 min, it started up and went about 5 miles at highway speed, then crapped out again.

Wait another 10 min, it starts and finally makes it 8 miles home.
When testing in the driveway, fuel pressure was fine, then died again with CEL flashing, fans turning on/off.

I replaced the ignition module and coil, but it didn't help.
Then I replaced the ECU and all is well now.

Thanks for posting your solution! A bad ECM can make cars do all sorts of weird things. Glad you figured it out.

An odd thing too - when it was running on the bad ECM, I scanned it and there were no codes reported!
