91 z28 tpi problem
I have a 91 z28 tpi. I know very little about cars and need help diagnosing a problem. A few days ago I was at a stoplight. Upon accelerating off of the light, something under the hood "popped" and the car suddenly started running and idling rough. I already have an exhaust leak below the passenger door where the right inter. pipe bends towards the headers so the smell of exhaust was already present. But, after this pop happened the smell of gas got worse. I'm thinking it could be a misfire or fuel problem. The car doesn't stall and it idles at a normal rpm. (around 800 to 1000)

Welcome to Thirdgen. You will find allot of knowledgeable people on this site. You may want to post a little more information about your car. Any mods? Your post indicates you have headers.
Concerning your problem. I'm not sure if a ruptured fuel pressure regulator diaphragm would cause a pop noise, but it is worth checking. The fuel pressure regulator in under the plenum, closer to the passenger side. There is a vacuum line going to it. Pull off the vacuum line and see/smell if fuel is in there. If so, the diaphragm is ruptured.

I don't mean to sound like a wise-guy, but have you opened the hood to take a look?
Sometimes a quick visual is all you need to determine the cause.

Ah yes I definitely should have mentioned that my hood latch doesn't work. I think I'll just take it to my usual mechanic shop and get it looked at
