Torque Converter Recommendation Please?

Car: 1982 Trans Am
Engine: 350 Crate
Transmission: TH350
Axle/Gears: 3.23
Torque Converter Recommendation Please?

I am switching out my 4 speed T-10 for a TH350. Nothing wrong with the T-10, but I'm building a "Knight Rider" replica and that's an automatic so....

I've basically got everything for a TH-350 swap, but I'm not sure what range/brand for a torque converter I should get.

1982 Trans Am
LG4 305
4bbl Quadrajet, B hanger, CK rods
NO ECM from factory! This is a Canadian car
No cat
3.23 Rear end
Will be TH-350 with Transgo Shift Kit

I will probably eventually get a mild 350 engine for Saturday night cruising, I'm wondering if there is a certain stall range that will work nicely now, and down the road with a new engine? Perhaps there is a stock GM converter that would work well for me?

This will never be a race car, but I'd like it to be a fast street car. I don't want to snap my neck every time I accelerate unless I'm at WOT.

Any advice appreciated! I wouldn't be able to try any of this without all the help from this board already

Engine: 1989 350 4 bolt roller block
Transmission: ProBuilt 700R4 Road Race with Edge 9.5" 2800 stall lockup converter
I guess it all depends on what you are calling mild. 1200 RPM is stock, some Z28 TPI and Corvettes had an 1800 stall in them. I would say don't go over about 2200 if you are going to be running a stock engine for a long period of time. If it is only until summer, go to a 2500 rpm unit.

Again, what do you consider to be mild??? The cam has everything to do with what you need to run....

Transmission: 700r4 in both
Maybe you have the th350 already, I dont know. If not, Did you ever consider a 700r4 swap instead?

I have no idea what I'll put in for a cam. I definately won't get a 350 engine for at least a year or two, so I want a torque converter that's streetable on my stock LG4. Honestly if GM put 1800 stalls behind the L98's, I doubt I'd ever want anything more than a 2200. So I think I'll cap there. Thanks for the help, I know I need to provide more info, but without an engine, that's difficult

I didn't consider a 700R4 because 82 F-bodies are setup to swap to a TH350 much easier. Plus I have no ECM and don't care about overdrive, so a TH350 made alot of sense for me.

Just a quick FYI, pre 93 4L60s/700r4s dont use an ECM
Only 93 and later 4L60Es do..

but since you dont care about OD, by all means the th350 is right for you!
