700r4 tv cable correct hook up

Hey guys I gotta question.
I have been searching the boards for so long my eyes hurt.
I did an engine swap on my TA and I originally had a CFI on the engine and now I have a carb. I don't know if this has an effect on cable length or not. Anyways,

Does anyone know how to properly set the tv cable so that it doesn't fry the trans?

Any help would be appreciated.

ya i saw that but it isn't what i'm looking for because the thing hasn't ever been set before on this setup! I think that is mostly for cars that still have the stock setup on it. Mine has a new custom fabbed cable bracket and i'm sure its not close to stock.

I just stick to this post instead of creating a new one

I tried adjuting mine as the article suggests I got it to click once but then it would not click or move more. At the same time the throttle is not at WOT.

I tried really hard and it just did not want to click for me.

So instead i manually pushed it out a bit then opened to WOT and it clicked once so i guess i should be fairly close.

The TV slider on my car was already flush, but the
tranny would shift at 2500 rpms all the time sucked.

So I depressed the lock tab anyway just to see if
it would change.

Well there was a changling.
Tranny cold she shifts over 4000
If I let off the throttle before it goes to the next gear the rear wheel chirps and the car jerks forward.

I got some serious torque issues : )

Not good in bumper traffic.

When the tranny gets hot the shifts dont rev so high
and the car isnt so dangerous anymore : (

autos are wierd animals

I looked at that diagram Apeiron posted.

I noticed that after depressing the lock tab and moving
the slider flush to the bracket, you then move the throttle
to WOT.

When going to WOT should hear the clicks while
the slider moves away from the housing, not sure about that.

Another words the slider moves out of the housing
with each click?
because I heard the clicks but didnt see the slider move at all.

There are little teeth on the mechanism. The clicking is almost like a ratchet.

whats happening now is she wont shift out
of first gear unless I go over 4500 rpms, which
can be very annoying and I have to feather the throttle
in traffic, and when she does shift its really hard and chirps
the wheels.
From 2 to 3 not much to talk about
nothing left..

To continue this subject I did a search
and found some info that might be helpful.
Grab the TV cable and pull it from the end
at the throttle towards the front of the car
and see if it springs back, this is to see if
it is connected to the tranny. You dont have to disconnect
anything to do this.
At least my cable did spring back.

Yesterday she shifted like she use to which is very driveable.
On part throttle she shifted quickly and smoothly.
But ... when I drove home front work at the end of
the drive she wouldnt shift early on light throttle.

I will try another TV cable because someone mentioned
that the wire should be very taught like a piano wire.
Mine isnt tight either.

There is a holley carb on the car perhaps the bracket assembly isnt correct, for this application.

It won't be that tight, but there shouldn't be any slack in it.

There is a bit of slack, for now I just bent the
end of the wire (after the throttle attachment) to tighten up
the cable.

I will have to use something for a spacer to take up the slack
before buying another cable, just to see if the shifts will be
consistent.
