setting the 700r4 TV cable, mine doesnt pull any of the cable out at WOT

i have a stock factory all original 84 with LG4 and 700r4

when i slide the TV cable housing all the way back and then open the throttle to WOT all the way it does not pull any of the cable sheath out of the housing and make even a single click, normall when you set these they make a few clicks and pull some of the cable out of the housing past the first click even

it is 2.73 axle ratio and i notice that when im cruising at 35 or so it is in higher of a gear than it should be at that speed because when i go to speed up a little it is practically at idle speed,
but if i get on it pretty good then it will kick down

the trans shifts too soon, it seems

remember its totally stock factory original 84 LG4 305 and 700r4 even still the original CC Q jet

comments? ideas ? suggestions ?

thanks

sounds like the cable is either broken or stretched inside the sheath. I would just replace it and be done with it, there cheap enough.

i didnt think it was possible for this cable to do such a thing, never heard of it happening before

new one on me

are we for sure that it does/can ?

positive ?

but it definitely hits third gear wayyyyyy too soon

it drops into 3rd before 35 even at normal acceleration

with 2.73 axle even

im gonna have ot manually shift it from 2 to 3 until i figure it out for sure it looks like

thanks

Exactly!

If you continue to run this tranny you may as well be looking for a new one, you will cook it in a hurry.

It does sound like the cable has broke or come off the linkage in the tranny. By the sounds of it the tranny isnt getting a signal of any throttle being applied and just upshifts right away.
