4.11's with a Torsen
Hey guy's just thought I'd relate my findings and see if anyone else has run across the same problems.
I just spent the better part of the weekend installing a set of 4.11's and upgrading to a Torsen diff in my 92 T/A vert. After going through all the bollocks of properly setting up pinion depth and shimming and reshimming to get the backlash and gearpatterns right and removing and reinstalling thepinion and the diff about 10 times in the process I thought I was just about finished, well imagine my surprise when I went to install my axles and found that I couldnt get the thrustplate (paddle) thingy to slide out past the ring gear! If i cant get that thing out I cant get the c-clips in to retain the axles so basically no joy for me, the whole weekend wasted. attatched is a pic to show what the problem is. Apparently SLP sells a replacement thrust plate to cure this problem at a cost of just $170.00 anyone have a better idea?

Yeah, I've heard about that problem with the Torsens when running the 4 series gears. You might want to contact Randy's Ring and Pinion or Reider Racing to see if they might carry the special paddle you need. All of SLP's parts should be plated in 24k gold for the prices they charge for their stuff! You actually run into the same problem with a conventional 7.5" 10 bolt carrier when using 4.56 or numerically higher. You have to buy a notched center shaft to be able to get the axle c-clips in place. I'm almost sure I've seen the different paddle in Reider Racing's catalog though, so you might want to check there before shelling out your left nut to SLP.
