B&M 30299 Install Question
Finally was able to track down the 30299. Just a few questions on those that have swapped for the th350. Do I have to take the tail section off or take the drive shaft out to install it? Crossmember have to come off?
Just wondering estimated time on install?
Thanks in advance.

Re: B&M 30299 Install Question
The 30299 is the swap kit, consisting of a bracket to mount the torque arm. It's not a tranny rebuild kit. And from a picture I found, you dont have to take the tail section off or driveshaft.
The only thing I'm now uncertain of is actually installing the bushing on the bracket. Any help on that?

Re: B&M 30299 Install Question
I looked at the part number the wrong way.
depends on which th350 you have. if you use the short th350, then you will need a longer driveshaft.
I would also think you needed the early torque arm for that kit because the th350 case is shorter than the 700r4 meaning that mount will be further forward unless the mount is made to accomodate that part.
the bushing bracket should mount with te hardware from the kit as opposed to using the factory bolts.

Re: B&M 30299 Install Question
I bought the car, and it already had the tranny installed as well as the driveshaft. So really my only concern is mounting the bushing to the bracket.
There is essentially 2 pieces from the factory mount. An inner and an outer. Im unsure of what parts from the factory mount to use. All I really need is a picture of it installed.

Re: B&M 30299 Install Question
I dont the swap to the 350 and used the 30299 from B&M and it worked great. You dont have to take anything apart it installs using 3 of the outer bolts on the tail shaft of the transmission. Getting the speedometer cable screwed in thru the bracket can be a pain but it was a easy install.

Re: B&M 30299 Install Question
Wow, such an old topic. But yes it was extremely easy to install, and for the speedo cable issue, I just slid the bracket over the speedo cable, tightened the cable, then bolted the bracket on. The bushing mount was a bit of trouble, but I just reamed out the stock mounting holes and it fit like a glove.

Re: B&M 30299 Install Question
Hopefully these can help those wondering what it looks like after install. The bushing in these pics have a modified energy suspension bushing (had to do some cutting on the bushing with a band saw to make it fit this bracket). It came with the edelbrock torque arm that is in the pics.
NOTE: The outer bracket that holds the bushing and torque arm to the B&M bracket is the one that was originally on your car. you re-use it(for the guy who has no instructions)

Re: B&M 30299 Install Question
Here is the old bushing I had on the b&m bracket when i had the stock torque arm in. The bigger one is a little bent cause i had to grind off the rivets and pry it off so i could put the energy suspension bushing in.
