V8 and V6 clutch fork interchangeable?

Will the clutch fork from a v8 bellhousing fit in a 2.8 bellhousing?

Thanks

No, V8 forks are stamped with V8 which leads me to believe that they are not interchangable

I have just been researching this and the Helm's manual states clearly that V-8 and V-6 forks are different and cannot be interchanged or the clutch actuator (slave cylinder) will be destroyed.

Part number for V-8: 14075725

for V-6: 14075718

i know this is old but i have a problem.
My part number is: 14075726 and i don't know if it was from a v6 or v8 because it was all mismatched parts. My part number doesn't seem to exist except for someone else having the same problem as me. i think i'm just going to order the V-8: 14075725 tomorrow from rockauto since it's a closer # to mine. Mine has a broken clip where the throwout bearing hooks to so i need a new one. Any one got any ideas?

Re: V8 and V6 clutch fork interchangeable?

There are dimensional differences between the V6 and the V8 fork. Use the one meant for your car and you should be good to go. Rockauto has a wide variety of clutch forks for sale. I recently ordered the AMS AUTOMOTIVE CF133 it looked the same dimensionally as the one for my 84 TA hopefully it works well I have not got the car out this year

ok thanks, i ordered one from rock auto, the one that looked like mine was the v8 fork. i'm just worried that it's the wrong one because my Camaro was originally a 2.8 V6 car that someone put a 350 in. i just took out the v6 T5 trans and i'm putting in a 1988 v8 T5 World Class Trans. Someone else said the clutch actuator would be destroyed if i had the wrong fork so i guess i'll find out

Wow, 16 years later I came back via a TH400 rebuild google search.

Looking at some of these old posts from when I was a punk kid are funny.

The link in my signature actually points to an old Geocities page... wow.

I miss my old Red '86 and White '89 at times. Drives through the country side with the T-Tops off the music turned up were the definition of freedom.
