Using the modified throttle valve from a shift kit?
Here's my problem no one has an answer for yet, 50% of the time at WOT the tranny won't shift from 2nd to 3rd. Ive read that it could be the throttle valve in the valve body getting stuck. It's not a governor issue or a TV cable issue. So I'm looking to buy a shift kit.
My question is, can I swap in just the shift kit's improved throttle valve, put in new fluid and call it a day, or do I have to install everything to make it work right? I don't care for the improved shifts and what not, I just want my car to reliably shift from 2nd to 3rd at WOT.

Re: Using the modified throttle valve from a shift kit?
The throttle valve is only part of the reason that the 2-3 WOT shift does not occur. The 2nd gear apply servo has a lot to do with the 2-3 shift. The Corvette servo will help make a 2-3 WOT shift. Increasing the 3rd gear feed hole size in the separtor plate will help out, and the larger boost valves will help even further. Just putting in the throttle valve will help out here, and it might solve this, but not necessarily. The TransGo Shift kit can solve it as long as the 3-4 clutches are in good shape.

Cool. You sell a really nice transgo kit for $160, right? Doesn't your kit also make it so the 700r4 can wot shift into 4th?

The kit comes with the instructions on how to do it. It takes about $.40 cents to add two Allen screws, and take a dremel to grind them down. This is much cheaper than the $20.00 - $40.00 to buy another TV plunger sleeve to do the same thing.
