700r4 trans. i bought this from friend with a fresh rebuild and never installed. the shop told him all he had to do was hook up a power lead to the red wire coming out of the trans. so i ran a wire from my fuse box to a toggle on my dash to the wire on the trans. drive the car and 1sr through 3rd feel great but no 4th/overdrive. pplleeaasseee help i'm pulling my hair out on this.

Converter lock is a separate issue from no OD. It may be something as simple as the seal around the 4th apply piston being on backwards.
GM designed the 700R-4 to be able to have converter lock in second and third gears as well as in OD. Just make sure it unlocks before each upshift or downshift.

you i was easily lost with that comment lol so basically take it to a shop and let them figure it out lol. i was told i might have the wrong voltage/amperage wire going the lead out of the trans. i'm guessing i would probably just be safer having a pro look at it thanks ronn for the input all the same.
