Speed Sensor swap?
Hello all, I am doing the finishing touches on my swap from the 2.8 v6 to a 4bbl 350 in my 88 firebird, I got a 700r4 out of an 89 chevy 1500 pickup, the speed sensor in the tranny appears to be magnetic, the plug from my stock harness wont work, i tried going to the jy and pulling a speed sensor out of a r4 but the little gear wheel on it didn't line up inside the transmission, any helpful advice? do i have to go to an aftermarket speedo?

Re: Speed Sensor swap?
Your V6 700-R4 had the right parts stock. Your TH350 might, since the right tailhousing allows those parts to fit it.
A 86-92 Firebird has the right speedo parts.
A 90-92 Camaro does too.
There are two VSS's, one for 41-45 teeth or 34-39 (or something like that.
Pull the tailhousing, remove any lock-rings and, tap the truck reluctor gear off. Put the right speedo gear on (from the applications above) and with the right tailhousing, install the VSS with it's gear.
