Manual/Automatic Valve Body for 700R4?
I recently acquired a 92 RS with a 305 and a TH700R4 tran and my plan was to replace the valve bodies with a Cheetah Automatic/Manual valve body kit. Unfortunately the only ones Cheetah makes are for the 350, 375 and the 400. My question was does anyone know is anyone makes the auto/manual kit for a 700R4? Throughout my research I can only narrow down to manual kits for the 700R4.
Thanks,
Justin

TransGo makes this kit.
http://transgoonline.com/products.ph...dcountview=Yes
From the description it appears that you can either build it full manual (Stick Shift) or manual/auto (Gear Command).
Even with a manual/auto valve body, it seems that the TH700 has weird WOT upshift characteristics. WOT manual upshifts don't seem to be instantaneous; move the shifter and the trans has a delayed upshift. At least that's been my experience when riding in cars that have TH700's that are supposedly kitted (unknown kit).
Maybe TransGo kit produces different behavior.

Pretty sure the Transgo Kit is not a valve body. It looks just like an involved shift kit. That already lets you hold any gear at any speed and with modifications allows shifts up to 7300 RPMs.
Next questions:
What are you trying to accomplish with this?
Why are you thinking you need a new valve body vs the normal beef'd up 700-r4 (corvette servo, boost valve, transgo kit, new plungers and sleeves to allow WOT upshifts)?
Have you thought about just contacting Dana @ Pro-Built Automatics? He can get you setup with whatever you need and make recommendations. http://www.700r4l60e.com/

Re: Manual/Automatic Valve Body for 700R4?
The only thing I am trying to accomplish is the choice of having a manual or automatic, I know that seems obvious but I'm not trying to street race with it or anything I just heard of valve bodies that had the capability to do that. As for beefing up the 700R4 at the time that's beyond my budget and my capability.

I'd recommend a Transgo Kit. It should do everything you want. You really only need to look at valve bodies if you want full manual shifts or transbrake.

Alright I'll go with your recommendation and go with a Transgo Kit, is there a certain kit you would recommend? And just to be clear the Transgo Kit will allow me to use my automatic function but I will also be able to shift gears as a please like a automatic/manual valve body? I recently purchased a B&M star shifter and I want to get the full use out of it. Also could you elaborate on why I wouldn't want the valve body for the automatic/manual feature?

You can manually shift to a certain point.
Full manual valve bodies let's you start in whatever gear you have selected. Which isn't good for clutch bands if you forget. Starting dead stop in 4th gear =bad.
transgo will allow you to hold each gear. Put the shifter in first you could run it to redline then move the shifter to second run it to redline. trans go also corrects some other basic fundamental problems such as sticking and line pressure issues.
Leave it in OD it'll shift like normal.
I've had both the b&m kit and transgo By far transgo is better.
I will let you decide but Dana over at pro built has some nice mods to the trans go kit. Please know there is a recent review of pro built on the review section about him being slow and stuff getting damaged in shipping. I had good luck with my transmission so far but it took WEEKS for it show up. Even Dana was acting worried.

Re: Manual/Automatic Valve Body for 700R4?
You must manually move the shifter up or down for each gear change
As noted a quality shift kit will give manual operation through the gears and full auto function in D
My kit allows me to upshift or downshift with full engine braking at any revs , ( so long as the engine will handle it ) , so I can shift up and down through the twistys just like a stick car

Thanks for the information you guys. I'm going to go with the street/strip kit with the corvette servo, this should provide me with everything I am looking for?

That should work well pretty close the same setup I have. Also expect to spend $100-$200 in labor depending on your location to have it installed.
