9 bolt axle seals, different L&R?

Need to replace my axle seals, the left and right are different in the catalog.

One side has a rubber surface on the outside, the other is bare steel, like you would use on a 10 bolt. Checked several sources and they all agree.

However, both old seals have rubber on the outside.

Anyone else run into this?

The L & R axle shaft seals are different and the p/n's are also different.
