Grease Clutch/Brake Pedal Bushings??

Anybody know if the clutch and brake pedal bushings go in dry or is there a lube like lithium grease that should be applied to them?

Re: Grease Clutch/Brake Pedal Bushings??

When I took mine apart last fall, there were no traces of grease or any kind of lubricant on them. I thought about greasing them as well before reassembly, but there is so much slop in the bushings it didn't seem worth it.

I actually took them apart to see if I could get rid of the slop(clutch pedal swings 1/2" either way), but couldn't find any replacements that would fit.

Re: Grease Clutch/Brake Pedal Bushings??

I turned down a bronze bushing from a fan motor to fit the clutch pedal. While I think the plastic ones give good life usually, I think the bronze will too.

I don't know if lithium is "right" for plastic bushed steel, but it should be fine.

I like bronze bushing idea. Do you have any more info on the bushings you used(OD,ID,length)? I wouldn't mind picking up a couple and trying it.

Re: Grease Clutch/Brake Pedal Bushings??

It was out of a blower motor fan in an import that needed a new one.

And I red`neck machined it with drill and dremel until it fit the pedal and pivot bolt.

Do you remember what import? There's lots of them in the junkyards near me, and blower motors are cheap
