How can I tell what rear end ratio I have?

87 GTA 5.7. I'm doing the manual swap and would like to verify what rear end is in the car. Is there a simple way to go about that via the VIN?

100% sure is pull the cover and look at what is stamped on the ring gear. Or, count the wheel revs compared to drive shaft and divide. The VIN wouldn't tell you but the RPO code would but that assumes the original rear.

If it is a 9bolt you should have 3.27s

Re: How can I tell what rear end ratio I have?

I think it's a 9 bolt. Have to check when I get home. Is the RPO sticker the one inside the arm rest? I have no idea what I did with it. I know for a fact it's the factory rear end. There isn't a build sheet stuck under the rear seat is there?

Re: How can I tell what rear end ratio I have?

Isn't the gear ratio stamped on the tag on the 9 bolt rear end?

It is. If the tag is there and all is original for sure then you're good to go. But....

I thought the only rear end option for the 1987 L98 F body cars was the BW 9 bolt, 3.27 gear
