t-56 install trouble :/
Hey guys,
for all of you that have done the t56 swap, if you could chime in it would be appreciated!
I have a 2 piece rear main seal sbc, and trying to mate a t56 up to it. i do have the conversion flywheel. i cant seem to gain enough clearance to clear the throwout bearing!! no matter which way i twist things, i cant seem to get enough clearance. *** end up, front up, both up, the t56 just seems to continuously hit the tunnel.
i wanted to try avoiding breaking loose the engine mount bolts and lifting the motor and tilting it. reason why is because i have a 7qt oil pan, and it doesnt clear the crossmember very well. so if there are any tricks that you guys have that can help me squeeze this thing in there i would be forever greatful!
i was thinking about cutting the tranny tunnel and scooting it back an inch or 2 since i was removing my dash and carpet anyways. that way i would have more clearance if i had to pull it out again.
again any help is appreciated

No but I do have poli. I've tried having the father in law push on the accessories while I was underneath and the sucker barely budges. It's pretty close to slipping past but I just need like an extra inch of room it seems like.

Is the distributor cap hitting the firewall? It should tile enough to get the trans in.I just did a t56 swap and I had plenty of room around trans with a 7 quart pan as well.
