Broken mount?

Not sure if I officially broke a mount today. Was in a ruse and put it in drive at about 1200 rpm after startup. When I put it in gear it made a loud bang.

My car always made a loud bang when going into gear, not like the tranny was hitting anything but more sounded like a transfer of power on old parts on the drive train.

I put it into drive and reverse after I got home and it still sounded loud but not as bad as the first time tonight. I got under it and had a friend change gears and I didn't see any noticeable movement on the tranny. Should I be okay?

Edit: ran out again and the tranny sounds okay when I put it in gear again.

Re: Broken mount?

A broken/tore rubber transmission mount can be hard to see until you lift the transmission a little bit. Then you will see that the rubber actually ripped away from the metal part of the mount.

Re: Broken mount?

Put a floor jack under the extension housing.

I'd almost bet money the mount is broke; they about always are.
