rear end leaking / noises
I just got my hands on an 86 z28 with a 350 swap so I'm new to these cars. today as i was driving i heard grinding noises as i was slowing down and it also chirps when being slowed. When i went to inspect the rear end i saw fluid leaking from lines that go in to the rear diff. Can someone please help on how to fix these problems.

Re: rear end leaking / noises
There are no lines that go into the rear end. What you are probably seeing is the brake lines.
Check the pinion to see if you have any free play up and down or in and out. Many times the pinion nut will back off and allow the pinion to move around. This usually causes the pinion seal to leak.

Re: rear end leaking / noises
Yes, that's why I suggested checking the pinion. When you slow down the ring gear pulls the pinion into the housing, which will cause it to make contact with the differential if it's loose.
Under acceleration the pinion is pushed forward toward the transmission.
