T56 swap help
Just bought a 1994 z28 with 67000 miles to convert my iroc to the 6 speed. The 94 had a bad optispark when i got it so i got it running, i took it down the road and first and secont gear sounds almost as if they are grinding up to about 3000 rpm if i put some power behind it, if i go easily its quiet. Revurs does the same thing. I am being told it has to do with the clutch release bearing or pilot bearing if it has a bearing in place of the pilot bushing, i have been a mechanic for meny years and have never heard anything like this, the swap is not going to take place until next season ao i may have the t56 rebuilt over the winter. Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? Should i just get another t56? Any thing would be helpful!

Re: T56 swap help
Is the floor rubber shifter boot in place, and is there anything that would cause noise / vibration to transmit easily to the cabin?
1st and 2nd are coarser tooth count for their diameter but shouldn't be any noiser than any manual.
If it changes when you press the pedal to release the clutch, I would suggest a new throwout bearing when you move it over.
And a new pilot bearing of course; if you find that one destroyed, you're going to need to get the maindrive re-tipped.
A teardown to look over the internals isn't a bad idea since you'll have it out.

Yea ill have it gone through just to be safe. But the boot is there the car is all stock nothing was ever done to it, i hope its the throw out bearing, all that is getting replaced with a new clutch anyways. Would you know if i can use a third gen flywheel with a forth gen clutch? Is get a fourthgen flywheel but i put a 383 in it and it has a 2 piece rear main
