T56 issue

Hello all, I have been having an on going issue fitting my T56. I have a 383 stroker,T5 bell-housing, centreforce duel friction clutch with a adapter plate from The gear box Transmissions,LLC with all the correct part.

http://www.thegearbox.org/catalog/it...17/4803441.htm

My issue is when we bolt the trans to block, the last 1/8th binds the transmission, not solid but enough that you have to use strength to turn the prop flange, were by un doing the bell-housing bolts by just a little the trans turns with no effort. Help please ? Thanks Paul

Re: T56 issue

T56 could mean a LOT of different transmissions.
Tag / ID number would help. Pics would help.
Pilot bearing style / pics would help.
What have you measured to verify a particular section isn't "bottoming out" ?

Re: T56 issue

Sounds like most likely, you have one of the various T-56 variants with a longer pilot on the clutch gear than the rest of your setup wants; so the trans is bottoming out into the back of the crankshaft. Can't be sure of that of course, but if it was happening to me, that's what I'd check.

A dab of modeling clay (or chewing gum, or Play-Doh, or wet toilet paper, or, ... or, ........, or, use your imagination) on the tip of the clutch gear should point it out effectively.
