what is this for?
I recently pulled out my motor and transmission for a rebuild. I put it back in last night and today I was trying to hook things back together and came across this bracket and have no idea what's it's for. Any help?

goes on the back of the trans opposite of the torque arm to support the exhaust.

Is it a must have or could I make something else work? Cause soon I'm gonna redo the exhaust anyway.

Re: what is this for?
I'd suggest figuring out a way to incorporate it.
It's the only thing supporting the exhaust anywhere between the engine and the tailpipes.

That one looks a bit perished, so you might want a replacement:

Re: what is this for?
Yup... without it, the exhaust is constantly trying to bend in the middle... puts ALOT of strain on the joints, tends to do things like crack the couplings out of mufflers and stuff like that.
