Rear End Upgrade for LS1 Sawp

I'm sure this question has been asked before (I tried searching and couldn't find what I was looking for), I am doing an LS1 swap on my 92 305 throttle body and I was wondering what should I do with the rear end?

I keep going back and forth as to whether or not I should upgrade my 10 bolt non-posi rear end or suck it up and buy a 12 bolt rear end. My LS1 setup will be running about 400hp give or take. I am also upgrading the tranny to a 4L60e. I'm going to be using street tires. I'm not planning on using slicks or anything like that in the near future.

I just want to make sure my rear end isn't going to blow up on me if I'm running out and about.

Re: Rear End Upgrade for LS1 Sawp

You already have the larger 28 spline axles, so upgrading to a new Eaton Posi, Eaton Treutrac or Yukon Dura Grip would probably be enough to handle your engine with an automatic and street tires. If you change anything else then the rear end will probably not handle it.

So you are going to be on the edge of what it will take. Do you upgrade to a stronger rear end now, or will you be satisfied with the car and not try to make more power, or add slicks later?
