So I finally found and bought a Dana 44

A few weeks ago while perusing craigslist I came across an ad for a 82z Indy 500 pace car replica rolling shell. After reading the description all the way down it said Dana 44 rear. I called and talked with the owner who relayed the story to me that the car had sat in a garage for about 15 years with a mild 350 and a Doug Nash 5 speed. They had bought the car for the motor and trans and were unloading the rest. I went out and looked at it that night and bought the whole thing. I have no problem admitting I paid 1000 for the car just to get my hands on the Dana. It is a posi 3:31 ratio that feels damn smooth and tight. I've already pulled the rear and put it in my garage for safekeeping. The rest of the car is unfortunately too far gone rust wise and is in the process of getting stripped down for parts. Here's a few pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Re: So I finally found and bought a Dana 44

After having read the dana44 parts thread at the top of this someone mentioned a 82z with a Doug Nash 5 speed as a magazine project car. Just wondering if I stumbled across a former magazine project car?

Cool. Too bad the car was not better. I always like the '82 pace car.

Yea me too. Before I got to look the car over I had contemplated taking the rear and getting another rear and reselling it but everything that is pace car specific for the most part is Mia and the car is completely rotted everywhere. On top of it all this is a factory 4 speed pace car. A real shame.

Are you talking about a post link that shows up below your thread (on the full web version of the forum; maybe elsewhere in the mobile version)?

It's a sticky at the top of the trans and drivetrain board.
