S10 differential and gears swap into a 92?
Found a complete rear end out of a 99 S10 blazer. Can i swap the diff and gears (center section) into my 92rs? My 92 only has the 2:77 open so id like to rob the posi, gears and all, from the S10...From what ive read the 92's should have 28 spline axles, ive searched on here but cant find a difinitive answer. Thanks guys

Yes, your '92 has 28 spline axles. The S10 may or may not have 28 spline axles. If the S10 rear end is the 7.6 then you can swap the parts into your Camaro rear end. I don't recommend using the Governor Lock differential.
I'm assuming that you already know that the pinion depth, bearing preload and backlash will have to be set when you swap everything.

As biggearhead mentioned, don't use the posi carrier from the S10. You can use the ring & pinion though. I'm currently running a set of 3.73 gears from an early 90's S10 in a 4thgen Firebird rear on my 92. The Firebird had posi and disc brakes, but came with a 3.23 gear set iirc(might have been 3.42). The swap was pretty easy, but you do need to pay attention to the pinion depth, backlash, and contact pattern when setting it up. Everything bolted right up though.

Don't think that I'm trying to tell you or your buddy what to do, but before you remove the gears or any parts from the S10 you need to do a pattern check and check the backlash. If you do a pattern check before you remove it, and take pictures of the pattern, then you will know what pattern to shoot for when you put it in your rear end. You will also know how to set the backlash. If you just go out there and jerk it apart then you have no idea what pattern you need or where to set the backlash. Used gears have wear on them and you will not get the same type of pattern that you get from a new set of gears.
