Automatic to manual

I had someone tell me that I could convert my 1989 camaro rs from a automatic transmission to a manual and it would be really easy to do I don't think it will be as easy as he makes it sound but I could be wrong has anyone done this before? Opinions? I'd really like to have a manual instead of an automatic for this car but not sure if it would be worth the headache of switching it over

Re: Automatic to manual

It has been done hundreds upon hundred of times. There are tons of threads, some are super picture heavy and some FAQs. Fortunately they are all found here.

Re: Automatic to manual

I will be removing my t5 and converting to t56 and have everything you need except the shifter trim plate. Including pedals and hydraulics I have the set up listed for sale and local to Savannah Ga.

Re: Automatic to manual

If you decide to do it, post up on here regularly! I'm in the process of doing it in my spare time (not something I have a lot of so it's taking awhile), and id love to see what kind of problems you run into. I think the hardest part is just going to be cutting the holes for the clutch cylinder and the shifter. I can't find any templates so I'll be winging it. May make up some templates of my own to post for people to make it easier for anyone else.
