Pro 5.0 shifter
So I just installed a Pro 5.0 shifter in my 84 Z28 and wow, what an improvement! I am so happy with it! I installed it without removing my center console, it took some time, and an using a 10MM wrench to remove the shifter boot but it was well worth it, took about an hour an a half. to anyone setting one of these up, make sure after bolting it down, before adjusting the stops, make sure you go through the gears a couple of times to make sure you full engage the gears, if you dont do this before, your stops will keep the shifter from allowing full engagement of the gear. great shifter and great price from Jegs.

Re: Pro 5.0 shifter
Agreed, the VERY FIRST mod I did to my 83 L69 car, was a shifter. (long before Pro 5.0 was born...) It was AMAZING how much better the car was to drive. I have kinda long fingers (piano & violin player) and had bloody knuckles from hitting the radio shifting into 3rd. The shifter I put in, a Hurst Comp Plus which was all there was at the time, just COMPLETELY REVOLUTIONIZED the car. YUUUUUUJJJJJJE bang for the buck mod. $100 and it felt totally more like ... a sports car, ... instead of what it actually was, which was, a gas mileage transmission misapplied.
DO THIS, any brand of shifter, you won't be sorry.

Re: Pro 5.0 shifter
I went through a phase I refer to as "Shifter Madness" with my 5spd Mustang. Started with the stock shifter, then picked up a Hurst Comp+, Pro 5.0, and a Steeda Tri-ax, all in the course of a few weeks. The best feel was with the Hurst, but I decided on the Pro 5.0 because it had as short or shorter shifts as the Hurst, and it was built like a tank. It's just not as smooth as the Hurst was. I'd describe it as "Notchy". I sold the other shifters, and I've got a Pro 5.0 on my T56 too, so I'm sold.

Re: Pro 5.0 shifter
So because I cant leave anything well enough alone, I just ordered a Hurst shifter rod and black 5 speed ball to bolt onto the Pro 5.0 base, https://www.hurstshiftersonline.com/...Tall-p1064.htm with a 3" lay back, trying to get the older look of how the 1st and 2nd gen shifters were in the F bodies. I will post pictures when I install it.

Re: Pro 5.0 shifter
That shifter rod does work, but in 2nd and 4th gear, it is almost hitting the console.
