It should bolt right up. The 4th gen housings are a little wider, so depending on your rim\tires you might have to do a little rearranging.

He probably meant the driveshaft is shorter than a T5\700R4 driveshaft. I've never dealt with a T56 so I'm unsure if that's the case, though. But you should be able to just use whatever driveshaft you already have (as long as the yolks, etc, are the same).

I have a 4th gen rear in..

Had to change some nipples for the brake lines and check your BS on the rims mentioned above.

the fourth gen driveshaft is the same length as the 3rd gen one, T56, manual, whatever.

the S60 may require a different yoke and/or otherwise required modifications to the driveshaft. IOTW, any modification to the driveshaft was required by the rear end change. just get the driveshaft with the rear end.

I was checking on a S60 for my 89 and Strange says it requires a shorter drive shaft. 1 5/8" shorter if I remember correctly. Check the Strange website.

How'd you come up with a used one? I presume it has the F-body torque arm mount.

Re: 4th gen S60 rearend into a 3rd gen?

My stock 89 9 bolt rear is 61 1/2" flange to flange. A 4th gen 10 bolt I measured was 65 1/4" If your S60 is the wider width, then you have a couple of options. You could have it shortened and the axles re-splined or just use different off set wheels. I would double check as the previous owner may have had a custom width so who knows. If I remember correctly Moser charges ~$175 to shorten and $75 per axle to re-spline. Since a new S60 is around $2700 (less brakes) it's worth putting some money in to get it installed. 4th gen brakes used (if needed) $250 or so, or you could see if yours can be adapted. The last drive shaft I had made was $125 for a "re-tube" which means they used my yokes and $50 or so for brake lines/fittings. Double check once you get it installed as you may want/need an adjustable panhard bar and torque arm.

Re: 4th gen S60 rearend into a 3rd gen?

The 4th gen S60 is a direct bolt in but lie others have said you will need a shorter driveshaft and more backspacing wheels. I'm running the 17x11 zr1 wheels with I believe (sorry been a while) 8" backspace with Wilwood brakes. I also have the Strange chrome moly driveshaft.
