which cars came with these gears?
im in the market for a set of 3.27 or .3.42 gears and dont feel like paying retail for them. how can i tell if i have found a set of these gears at the junkyard? did all the v6's come with these? any help would be appreciated

3.27 is a 9-bolt ratio, and 3.42 is a 10-bolt ratio, which are you looking for?
Yes, V6's would have 3.23 or 3.42 rear gears. You can also try other GM 10-bolts like S10 pickups and Vans.
For 9-bolt stuff it'll be really rare to find in a junkyard.

Let me get this straight, you are going to get junkyard gears & spend 3-4 hours setting them up in your housing or worse yet paying someone else to do it & then to find the gears are no good and have to rip them out & start over again to save what $100-150 ? Dosen't make sense.
