Car wont start after distributor re-build
I put the distributor in but could not get the rotor to line up right . It will turn over but not start , is it possible for the timing to be so off that it wont start ? HELP ! lol . I need to get this car running

Isn't getting that rotor right a fun job?
When I rebuilt my distributor a month ago, I had to adjust my timing, it was my first time when the book says to turn the distributor, it doesn't mean rotate the distributor took me two hours to figure that out After that, just three minutes of "turning" the dist
I quess you gotta learn somehow...

It wasn't so bad . The bad part was , well I've dropped three sockets down in my engine somewhere . Well NOT in the engine because I had the distributor in the engine when I dropped them . But I could not find one of them , I had to go to the store and get another SET b/c they did not have just one socket . Then the other socket I dropped was right on top near the distributor hold down plate , so when I removed the distributor , I had to hold the bolt halfway with my pinky finger so it would not fall down in the engine . I tried to get it out before I removed it but could not , it was lodged down in there but then when I remvoed the distributor it freed it .That was the fun part , losing my sockets ! AND i just love the location of our distributor , they couldn't place it in the front of the engine like on some cars . So I had to lay halfway on the plenum, while the other half of my body was on my fender and feet off the ground , and trying not to squash my ballz at the same time :sillylol: That fender can be a nut buster if your not carefull !

LOL! And the worst is, once one gets crunched, there's no way to just jump off the car and walk it off! You gotta carefully crawl off the engine, and try not to nail it again. Ugh... they hurt just thinking about it.
And I lost a brand new 15mm socket the first time I adjusted the timing on my motor... damned if I know where it went. I had to suffer with an old, messed up 9/16" socket to finish the job. When the rear axle blew a few weeks ago, I finally dumped the cash on a generic Husky socket set because I was so tired of using our old set- those sockets were trashed beyond belief.

at least we can see the distributor on the f-bodies. I changed the rotor on the blazer( cap-$25 just took dremel & wire wheel to it, rotor-$10) w/the side mount wires. I did this w/out removing top plenum (CPI) what a bytch!! took like 3 hrs to do this & put the wires back in stock routing location. Did the plugs & wires 3 mos earlier, different site & too long for here
lets just say the #3 plug, middle on driver side is a bunch of to get to.
