I have an 88 2.8 liter that runs ok but is pretty sluggish. If I put a screwdriver on my injectors while the car is running I can hear them all clicking except for one. I did an ohm check on the one that is not clicking (it's the only one I can get to without removing the plenum). The ohms on that injector are showing at around 35 ohms. From what I've read, ohms should be around 12. The 35 ohms that I got seem pretty high. Does that ohm reading make any sense? I also had the car running and pulled the wire off of that injector and there was no change in the cars idle and no change when I give it more gas. I'm thinkin bout changing all the injectors. I've read some great info on this site....but want to be sure they are bad before I order new ones and change them. Also......Can anyone tell me if I should upgrade to a better injector or just order stock injectors. Thanks

Yes, the OEM injector on the 2.8L should have a resistance reading of approximately 12 ohms. Anything higher or lower is an indication that the injector is likely faulty.

35 ohms ????? Are you sure??? If that is the case, then the injector is done.

no...update.......I was measuring the wrong thing (which I'm not sure what it even is...but it had the same type clip holding it in) near the front right side...right next to the #2 injector. I have NOW removed the plenum and all the injectors are reading 16.8 ohms when cold. I tried to heat one up with a hair dryer (which I remember reading something on here about testing them when warm) and there was no difference. all reading 16.8. Any theories on whether there good or bad? I'm guessing there bad being that they aren't reading the approx 12 ohms?

I knew something didn't sound right with that ohm reading.
Anyway, when we say check them when they are warm, that means check them after the car was running for a bit.

too late for that I guess being that I removed the plenum and throttle body and stuff. I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to change the injectors out being that they are 23 yrs old. The car just seems to not have alot of power. Guess I should check the compression. Maybe the motors just beat. I've heard that you guys (southbay) are the guys to get injectors from if I DO want/need them. What would that run me to buy injectors from you all?

Seeing as they "all" read 16.8 ohms, I would question the accuracy of your DMM. A low battery an cause changes in readings, quite significantly.

At this point, since what you thought was an injector turns out not be, I would go ahead, re-assemble, and drive it.

If you post a picture of this mystery item, it can be identified more easily.

Well I changed the battery in my DMM and the injectors are now reading 16.3. The mystery sensor is just to the right of what I believe is my coolant temp sensor and has the same "harness" as the injectors do.
I've tuned up the car...wires...plugs...rotor...dizzy...pick up coil....ignition coil...ignition module.....oil change.....set the timing to 10* btdc.....and I seafoamed it. Trying to get it back on the road and want to make sure everything is as good as I can get it.
I will reassemble it and see how it runs and drives.

The "injector" is the temp switch for the cold start injector in the back of the manifold.

When you removed the plugs, did you note the color of the cylinder ends? If not, drive the car for a bit, let it cool, and then pull a couple. The color of the plug will help to tell you what is wrong. And then, leave one out, disconnect the front connector on the injector harness (to disable fuel injection), and crank the engine and note the color of the spark.
