Reviving camaro! Stumped on alternator!

Hello everyone! its been a long time since ive been on these forums, revived my Camaro once, then pulled it all apart, now its all together from heads up except the ALTERNATOR! cant figure out how it goes! nor the bracket! can someone send me some pictures of front and back of how the belt system is supposed to go? that's all that's needed, as well as timing it right but I can do that. was gonna turbo charge it but might just keep it all stock as a dd. thank you all!

Looks like you're missing a bracket or two, as well as the tensioner. Do you have any parts laying around yet?

I could not remember but I looked, there is a big ally bracket that bolts to the head , the tensioner and alternator are bolted to this.

There is a thread with a bunch of vacuum diagrams, it looks like the one you want is in the middle of post 29. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...ml#post5080749

Re: Reviving camaro! Stumped on alternator!

alright guys thank you for the links! I got whole engine together, got a battery in it , all it does is turn over? now my questions are these : in the back with the distributor cap there are 2 plug ins, I have the one closest to motor plugged in, what goes in the other one couldn't find it. I also shot some starting fluid into it with no help, so this goes more then just fuel system needing overhauled. any ideas on what to check? thank you !

The two wire connector goes to the coil. The four wire connector goes to the EFI harness and then on to the ECM.

Re: Reviving camaro! Stumped on alternator!

alright so I checked my Camaro again, so I have one wire to the coil, and one to the distributor, the one to the distributor is the one with 6 wires going to it, there's another connection on the distributor that is for a 2 hole connection and I can not find it? does it have a wire that goes to it? anybody have any pictures, other then that I will more then likely need to take it to get timing fixed since I changed out all the valves. thank you!

Re: Reviving camaro! Stumped on alternator!

Should be a 4 wire from the main harness to dizzy, then a 2 wire from dizzy to ignition coil. The 2 wire from ignition coil is very short, maybe 12 inches long, and is completely removable if disconnected from both the dizzy and the coil.

I am unable to locate a picture but can take one later if no one else chimes in

Re: Reviving camaro! Stumped on alternator!

ACdelco Part number PT1909 for the coil side, and ACdelco Part number PT2386 for the dizzy side. I can get you a wiring diagram if needed. Both parts available on rockauto.com

I'm not quite sure what you are asking here, rephrase the question please?

Glad I could help you out though!
