Tires and Rims 15"
OK peeps, here is the question I have, and have read it many times in posts. Noone seems to have pics of a 3rd Gen, with 15" wheels and wide tires, exept with drag tires. Here is the problem.
I have just about finished with my 89 RS, wanting to order the wheels, but cant seem to find the correct back spacing. The wheels I have decided on are the Weld Draglites. Want at least 1" wider tire on the back, maybe 2. Gonna keep with the stock width on the front. What are the stock wheel size, and back spacing for the 15" RS wheels? I am also wanting to keep the hight of the tires about the same. With all this said I also want to keep them tucked under the fender wells. Suggestions are all considered and will love to see pics of these cars.
I am very old skool when it comes to the looks of my cars, so for this I am keepin with the 15 inch set up!!! So come on and let me see what everyone has !!!

Re: Tires and Rims 15"
The factory 15" wheels are 15x7 - not sure on the backspace, pull out a tape measure. - For the rears, just look at the drag race set-ups. I believe 15x8 with a 4.5-5" backspace is fairly comon, 15x10 with a 5.5 bs.
Most guys shy away from 15's for praticallity. There's more/better tire availability with larger sizes and you can easily get better handling and a better ride quality. Plus the fact that 15's just seem to bring back the ****** head "turd"gen image.

Shagwell speaketh much truth. It's getting hard to find top quality tires in 15". Seems odd that you've selected draglites but aren't interested in seeing drag car applications. Drag guys are about the only ones still shopping for 15s.

I let my short-long blow in the breeze while i'm driving my reservation rocket!
Those are 275/60/R15's on 2nd gen Trans-am wheels from a '79 TA. 235/60/R15 on the front.

I love the look myself.
