Buying new set of IROC chrome wheels?
I am going to buy a new set of the American Racing replica IROC chrome wheels.
I have had a set of theese tires on my Camaro before and back then I choosed 18" just to try out something new. I ran 245/40/18 profile tires on them and to me the car didn't felt any good to drive and I guess that is because of the low sidewall. I had my stock 215/60/15 before those and they seemed more comfortable to drive but not that good handling.
After a lot of searching I have heard very much positive thoughts about 17" wheels so that was my actual plan. Ufortunately those are a little hard to find now theese days but I have found lots of 16" and 18" and 20"s.
Have to mention that I am from Norway so the wheels will be expensive anyway. They will be around $2100 delivered here with me so therefor I want to do some research before I attempt to buy anything.
So the main question here. All the rims are 8" width. So wich one will give the best handling for a street car/daily driver??
Will I be satisfied with the 16"s ??? I am thinking of 245/50/16 wheel size.
I also have to mention my upgrades on the suspension system so far.
Have done a few modifications:
Upgraded sway bars with poly bushing front and back (Spohn)
Eibach lowering springs with KYB adjustable shocks.
Wonderbar installed
3.42 gears on a EATON posi unit.
Rear end has also installed LCA relocation brackets with upgraded
LCA's and panhard bar.
I guess the next mod will be subframe connectors but until then new wheels is on the menu.
