Tire Size On 91-92 RS Wheels
Hello all, been a while since i've been on. I have 84 sport coupe and a set of the above mentioned 16x8 wheels. My car came with 14" wheels. Question is can i run these on this car with 245x60-16 wheels without clearance problems. I'll be using 1" spacers on the rear to make up for the different backspace on the rear as they were used on disk brake cars and mine is rear drums. Feel pretty sure they will work fine on rear but not sure about front since these wheels were normally mounted to 50 or 55 series tires but don't want to run that low a profile. Thanks for your help

Re: Tire Size On 91-92 RS Wheels
The correct tire size for the 91-92 16in Camaro wheels was 235/55/16 which has a bigger side wall then the common 245-50-16.I don't see you having any problems in the rear end but if your front springs and struts are weak I could see it maybe causing a n issue in the front end. Hope this helps!!

Re: Tire Size On 91-92 RS Wheels
As was mentioned, the 235-55-16 was the size that Chevy put on the RS from the factory - if it had the 16" wheel option.
Problem is that there are zero tire choices in that size today. You can go 245-50-16, which is the size that was on the Z28 and other performance versions from 1985 to 1992. Not too many options left there either.
You can also mount a 225-55-16, which there are literally dozens of tire choices of all types.

Re: Tire Size On 91-92 RS Wheels
On the '94 'maro I just bought, it has Ohtsu Zexius 245/50R16s on the rear, they look right, but aren't quite as wide as the Futura Touring HR 225/50R16 on the left front. But the 225/55R16 on the RF is an Ohtsu FP6000 A/S that looks really narrow.
The '91-'92 RS 16s were no different from the same year Z28 16s.
You really don't need 1" spacers, IDK where you'd even find them, or how you could trust them. GM used a 4? mm spacer for drum brakes. Or just get 4 front wheels.

Ok all, thanks for the info. Found that there are quit a few optiond as far as 235-60x16 so maybe i'll go with that.If i don't use a spacer will the rear not sit further into the fender wells than the front since they have two different offsets.

Don't try 235/60R16s on the front! If they don't rub they'll still look bad.
And the rears being 6 mm inward isn't noticeable, nor at risk of rubbing.

225/60s is too common, barely works, and looks wrong.

Re: Tire Size On 91-92 RS Wheels
Ok, maybe some of you are old enough to know about these wheels and answer my question. Just found a set of the 1970s vintage american racing 200s butterflys, daisy wheels, went by different names, Now, the new style 200s is 15x 8 in.available in different backspacings and offsets and the outer ring is steel. The old ones were 15x8.5 ( i know they came in other widths) and were all aluminum and were only available in one offset and backspace
(somewhere between 3.75 and 4.50 i would think) but not sure. Was hoping someone would know if they would fit on the front of our cars ok without scrub issues. The guy i am buying them from is only selling them because he wanted to use them on a 69 camaro but they scrub on the front but i would think our cars are a bit more roomy in front fenderwell area. Dont want them to sit outside fenders. What do you guys think?
