Fikse FM10 forged wheels on 91 z28
I recently found a good deal on a set of Fikse Forged wheels, so decided to jump on them. The car currently has 275/40/17's up front and 315/35/17 in the rear. The 275's rub hard, so I will most likely downgrade to some 245/45/17. Any feedback on wheels is always appreciated. The wheels are actually really dirty right now. I need to take them apart and give a real good polish to them. Will post pics of the finished product in the next few weeks.

Re: Fikse FM10 forged wheels on 91 z28
Rubbing with a 275 up front is due to the offset being wrong. You can get spacers to correct.
Moving from a 275-40-17 to a 245-45-17 is a counterproductive one.

I already have the 2" spacers on there. and the back spacing for the wheels are for 4th gen cars, that is what the wheels came off from. The sticky on this wheel/tire section said to use 2" spacers up front, and the 1 1/4 spacers in the rear with the 11" wheels.

Regardless of what the sticky says, you need a total of 5.25" of front BS to not rub except under full lock. Not sure about the rears since we only sell 9.5" wheels.

what is the offset on that rim specifically? it should say on the back, fiske wheels are custom made and who knows how the original owner built them. they look pretty aggressive, a smaller spacer will resolve your rubbing issue up front. as far as the rear i cant say, i dont know much about that wide of a rim out back.

My fm10's arrived today. They are setup for my gta, hopefully my measurements were right. I had Alan on the phone the whole time. I went with a 18x10 on the rear and 18x8 for the front.

If you ordered the wheels specifically for your car, they should fit awesome without issues. I purchased these wheels from a local fbody owner who had them on his 2002 Camaro ss. So im pretty sure that the back spacing is the 4th gen backspacing, but will double check when I pull the wheels off next week to begin polishing them.

I just got my new back spacers, they are 1 1/4 and I currently have the 2" in the rear, so im going to switch them out as per the sticky thread on here.
I may try new spacers in front, to see if it helps, but think 1 1/4 will be too short, maybe the 1.5 or 1.75 spacers would work up front.

grab that info off the back, if the offset isnt direct written get the serial number and call fiske. they have records of every wheel they made

Re: Fikse FM10 forged wheels on 91 z28
really no way to know without knowing what you have.. depending how aggressive the original owner wanted the rims on his 4th gen we have no idea what the offset could be. presuming he went with a stock tire a common offset is anywhere from +35mm (aggressive) to +56 (stock), meaning you would need a 1.3in spacer to a 2.1. seeing that the 2in spacer is poking it out to far, im thinking its closer to that 1.5in range.

Ill try and pull the wheels the 6th or 7th to see what the serial numbers say and go from there.

Re: Fikse FM10 forged wheels on 91 z28
All this talk about what spacer/backspace you should run is sort of subjective...
What you need to look at is the space between the tie rod & the wheel. This is your backspace limitation on a 17 or smaller wheel. Wheels are machined differently & have different shapes & thicknesses in this area, so your max backspace will vary.
Now you can determine how aggressive you want to become with this clearance.
Even brands of tie rods vary in thickness. I would recommend you allow at least 1/4" of clearance here. Mine is slightly under 1/4" & has never touched. More is better, but it also sticks the wheels out further. Keep in mind, there will be no room for wheel weights on the inner lip either.
As an added note... Aftermarket brakes can push the wheels out up to an additional 7/16" Mine added 3/8" to the track width per side.
Grab a tape measure & get a dimension before buying more spacers.
My wheels are 5.95" BS & fit with factory brakes & a 7/16" spacer. Tie rod was dangerously close but worked well for many years. Added C4HD brakes & now I run a factory spacer from the rear of the car on the front (about 1/8" thick, I forget the measurement after all these years)

Thanks for that info. I was just about to order some new spacers for the fronts as well. The rear 1 1/4 spacers worked out well. I just need to grind down the lip of the bump stop a bit.

Re: Fikse FM10 forged wheels on 91 z28
All my comments were related to the front wheels, but I see you made great progress on the rears. That looks so much better now.
When I saw the first picture, I thought love the car & the wheels, they just stick out too far. Get them tucked where they belong & they will be awesome.
Take measurements with the 1-1/4" spacers on the front & see how much you can take them inwards. It will help prevent the tire from rubbing the inner fender liner, but may cause the tire to touch the frame behind the control arm at full lock.
Lowering the car actually helped the liner clearance on my Formula.

10-4 bud, I will put the other 1 1/4 spacer that I haven't installed yet on the front today and have a 1/4 spacer used for front runners to add the total spacer size to 1 1/2 and see how it fits. Ill check the clearance to the tie rod as well. Thanks for the input.

I see your running a 1 1/4 spacer in the rear do you know what your back spacing on the wheel is? also did you have to remove the bump stops or hammer/cut the inner fender.
