Added Hawk's 17" GTA Wheels to my RS
Didn't want to mess with my original wheels and tires or my 92 RS since they are pristine. But was not comfortable driving on 23 year old tires.
So this was my solution. Very happy with the results.
Running BFG 275/40ZR17 tires. Mounted up great, did need to use the supplied spacers on the front since the rim contacted the tie rod and a small flange on the front strut.

How about some shots from the front and rear so everyone can see how they look?

So wait, you have to use a small spacer to use there wheels in a 17" size? sounds odd.

Hence a small spacer.
After all, it is easier to use a small spacer if the wheel has too much offset, than be screwed if the wheel has too little offset... You can't "un-spacer" a wheel to give it more backspacing.

Phil,
That is due to Hawks trying to fit these wheels to several different applications - 2nd gens especially. That is due to the 5.5" BS, when around 5.25" is what you need to avoid the tie rods (like the Firehawks). Odds are you wouldn't need them if you installed a BBK that pushes out the hub surface a bit.

the brake upgrade would fix that problem, that didn't cross my mind .
wheels look pretty good though

Congratiulations!
That's one of the nicest combinations I've ever seen.
I think that was the color my old 92' GTA had (Medium Green Metallic) or am I wrong?
Love it
And those wheels..... it's more and more likely that I will equip my 89GTA with them.... they simply look perfect.

Re: Added Hawk's 17" GTA Wheels to my RS
I just received the same color wheels for my 'Bird on Friday but disappointed to NOT find my wheel spacers. I checked everything, every piece of packaging and under every piece of cardboard. stinks to know I'll probably have to have them in order to run the wheels. What thickness are they and are you running the stock lug studs?

They are about 1/4" thick and work fine with the stock studs.

Its amazing how those wheels can make a car pop. I've seen these on Monte Carlo SS's and they look great as well

Re: Added Hawk's 17" GTA Wheels to my RS
To all those who installed the 17" GTA wheels and used the spacers, did you have to use longer wheel studs?? My wheels I got from Hawks also did not have the spacers. Although I will be upgrading my brakes very soon though so I might not need them it sounds like.

I have mine, too! I'll snap some pictures with them on the car as soon as the roads dry up so I can get it out of the garage. I REEEEEEALLY love the way they look... they fill the wheel wells nicely with the additional tire width, and the lower 40 series tire sidewall looks fantastic!

Re: Added Hawk's 17" GTA Wheels to my RS
Are you sure you have stock studs?? I am just asking because I put my wheels on with the supplied spacer and the nut is only 3-4 turns on the stud. In my case I will definitely have to use longer studs. New wheel vs old wheel in pics.

I like it so much that I bought original GTA 16's last month for my "non Z03" RS with the Heritage Polo Green with Lt Beige color combo!
Camaro inserts for wheels will be added this week.
Looks Great

Re: Added Hawk's 17" GTA Wheels to my RS
Hey I wonder how these would fit on a third gen with a ls1 rear.. I have GTA wheel on my ls1 swapped rear and I hate how they stick out... I heard that these sit in a inch more than the stock GTA wheels... will these somewhat fix that wierd look from the ls1 rear being several inches wider on each side.. would like to know.. I absolutely love these GTA rims..
