275 width fits with ease - you can fit up to a 315 in the back with the right wheel.
But you won't be able to fit a 275 tire on your stock 16" wheels for a few reasons: 1) the minimum wheel you should mount a 275 on would be 9" (preferably 9.5") and 2) you won't find any 275 width street tires to fit 16" wheels on the market today.
You can move up to 17" or 18" and there are many options in terms of tire selection in 275-40-17 or 275-35-18.

That answered my question perfectly. It looks like the 255's I have on there now will have to do then. I will probably buy new wheels eventually but that won't be for quite a while. Suspension is next on the overall list. Thanks for the info.
