Is there a certain part that goes out on the B&M to make them not last as long? I just want to be sure my tranny and rear end can handle my new 350, don't want to have it torn up real quick.
to mkae it a bit simpler, people can only offer opinions based on experience with both of the shift kits. I doubt there are any stats you could really find comparing the 2.
there is virtually nothing that really can wear out. They both only have valve body gaskets, a few springs and different spacers.
unless you know something about transmission's, I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself also.
Sure it'll be tough on your drive trrain, but that's a given!
I have the B&M stage III (drag version), and have had no prob's with it.
If you do decide to do it yourself, If you need help let me know, I've done a few.
I would second that suggestion to have someone do it for you. Find a good speed shop that does transmissions. I couldn't get any regular tranny shops (AAmco) to touch a modified transmission. I tried doing my own, it seemed simple enough, and ended up having to get it towed to the shop for them to do it right.
If you're feeling rich, or the tranny's got a lot of miles and/or hard launches on it, look in to getting a new servo, and new bands and clutch packs.
Oh, yeah, I've been running a B&M for two years now. No problems.
From transfixleo and probuiltautomatics from the Tranny board. TRANSGO is the only REAL shift kit. It fixes the problems with the 700R4. B&M masks it, they would never recommend it.
The B&M shift kit has you drill holes in the valve body and replace the accumulator springs with a rod which gives you an extremely hard shift at any throttle. Real hard on equipment!!! Trust me, I put one in last year and now my tranny is toast!!
The transgo is an accumulated shift kit with a corvette servo that gives you a soft shift at part throttle and an f'n hard shift at full throttle. Basically the hardness of the shift is progressive. My new Pro-Built tranny has the transgo and that's the one I would recommend.
BTW, the B&M kit was easy to put in, they have great instructions and I had no problems at all. Not sure about the Transgo cause Pro-Built did my new tranny. (I'm puttin it in tomorrow!!!!)

In memory of Dale Earnhardt, I'll miss cheering for that black #3 on raceday!!!
Ok i'm gonna go with the TransGo, but I notice there where like 3 different "types?" on their site. I want the one with the Corvette servo. Can anybody help, like a part # or something??

I ordered mine from Dana @ probuiltautomatics, I would suggest calling him and let him know what you want the tranny to do and he will tell you what you need. I opted for the HD kit for my daily driven RS, my shifts are firmer but much smoother.
