I don't know if you want to here this but neither one will work very well on a stock 305. I think you would have a bad port match problem as well.JMO

Yeah, get the regular Performer. Plenty big enough.

That's a crock. The RPM works better than the Performer on even a mild 305. See this article here for numbers. Change the page number in your browser to view the other pages. Page 2 has a graph of the intake changes (that is rather hard to see). This was a Lg4 buildup while still fairly stock, and the Perf RPM made 15-20 ish more hp and ft-lbs than the Performer, w/ the torque peak at the same rpms. The low end torque was virtually identical between the Performer and Perf RPM, the RPM pulling ahead in the mid/upper range. Both of them beating the stock intake handily.

I don't know where this Performer RPM is too big for a 305 crap comes from...

I can't comment on which is better between the Holley and Edelbrock intakes though, I have never seen a dyno comparo. It's a safe bet that the RPM will work well though... (you'll need a drop base aircleaner w/ the RPM and a stock hood BTW)

thanks for the article, got one for building an L69? 325hp from an LG4! wow thats one hell of a 305, i have the dominator on the engine now it really hasn't improved my performance, but then who really notices 15-20 hp i'll slap the performer RPM on tommorow and tell you the difference

Yes, actually I did have one, but it was a decent bit older and the LG4 buildup did more dyno runs. I needed space so I got rid of it . The engines are pretty similar other than the cam, same heads, etc. Especially when we're talking about dyno runs w/ engines that already have headers, etc on them...

End result of that L69 buildup was less impressive, they only managed to get right below 300hp w/ Trickflow heads (older G1 models I think). Baseline for that L69 motor w/ headers was 205 hp BTW, suprisingly close to the LG4 w/ headers, must have been a high mileage L69 or something...

It will be quite interesting to see if you can tell any difference between the two intakes. My money is on no discernable difference though...
